Sports: Cards Need to Can Starter

The Cardinals starting pitcher Jason Marquis lost again Tuesday night. He's lost seven in a row, having not won sine July 16. I know you can argue that several of his losses were not all his fault, but his ERA has climbed to the worst in the team, 4.67, and there's no denying that he's not starter quality any more.

I don't understand why Tony LaRussa isn't demoting the guy back to minor league, or at least a reliever or something. In the NFL, when the starting quarterback loses games consistently, they replace him. In fact, they even replace him when he doesn't lose all the games. That's why Kurt Warner's on his third team in three years.

There's no reason to guarantee a Cardinal's loss with each start by Marquis. Let him be a pinch-hitter. He's got the best batting average on the team.

ok. i don't ponder over these mysteries cuz i don't care about the cardinals. i don't think i've watched a whole game since mark mcguire was going for his home run record. that proves i'm free from the bondage of supporting a sports team. yay.

i think a more pressing problem is studying for that english test.

Shame on you Sanguine. Shame, shame, shame. Cardinals baseball is one of the greatest things ever. Your life must be empty. That is sad. I'm sorry. It's never too late, though. Please pay more attention this October. I sense good things.

maybe to some people. and fans say they "sense good things" every year. look at micale. the cards were supposed to win the last 3 world series. unless i'm really out of the loop, i don't think they did. i have better things to do with my time (esp. during the school year) than spend 3 hours a night watching baseball. i'm unamerican. i know this because i also don't care for caramel and cotton candy. besides, i hear about alot of stuff from you and josh anyways.

is Micale actually still a big Cardinals fan?! I may be wrong, but I have no reason to think that she is. she just liked a Cardinal or two (ahem, Eli Marrero), but after they moved away she isn't crazy about the team. I, on the other hand, am no hypocrite. My loyalties will be MUCH harder to break. It would take something severe, like the management being dumb and ditching Pujols, LaRussa, and Walt Jocketty at the same time. and whether we win the WS this year or not, there will surely be great things this October. what about last year? no WS rings, but lots of awesome things. the best was Edmonds' walk-off home run in game 6 of the NLCS to keep the series alive for a game 7. huge. I suppose not everyone can be a fan, though. That's too bad. And it's not caramel or cotton candy that makes you American. it's chocolate and cheeseburgers. surely with this new understanding you can begin to renew your broken patriotism.

Well whaddaya know. Marquis had his first career complete game shutout today, in a game that he wasn't even supposed to pitch. due to Mulder's minor injury, Marquis was called to pitch on just 3 days of rest. sounds like bad news thanks to the way he's been pitching lately, but he made a 180 degree turn for his 10th victory. yay Jason. I hope this is the end of his troubles.

maybe she's not. i don't know anymore. she still comes to mind though. i'm glad you can remember great plays of last year. i can't. of course remembering something i never saw would be quite a talent. if everyone was a cardinals fan, there would be no other teams, lol so you can thank me for creating teams for the cardinals to beat up. or defeat. whatever you baseball terminology is. thank you for correcting my definition of American. what do you mean by renewing my broken patriotism? i'm all for Oreos, the American cookie. :D maybe i can give you a cardinals flag to wave or something. "I pledge allegiance to the Cardinals..." true fans are hard to come by. kudos to you for being a genuine bird watcher. :) -Sanguine
p.s.
make that a double kudos, cuz you gave me a cookie lol
